Nathan Cavanaugh
I graduated from the University of Washington in 2006, where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communication and Design.
During my study at the University of Washington, I learned to work well under the pressure of deadlines and to know when to be detail oriented and when to call it complete. I also learned how to critique others’ work as well as take criticism. I have four years of combined experience in the field. As an intern at Everett Community College Student Activities I learned how to self-direct and self-edit my work. I also had the chance to output work on a press, which gave me the opportunity to learn pre-press procedures such as using Pantones and trapping. During my time as a contract designer at Microsoft I was made lead on the Windows Live Custom Domains new flow project. Through this experience I learned how to take charge of a situation, manage my time well and get things done. I am currently working at Becker and Mayer, a book publisher, as a freelance production artist where I have worked on a variety of projects ranging from layout to photo-enhancement to illustration.
I have a strong work ethic and an easy-going personality. I am a visual learner and have an eye for detail. I am proficient with Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator and InDesign.
